What this tool is best for

• Showing how small inherited changes can accumulate over repeated selection.

What to avoid

• Do not present the chooser as equivalent to natural selection in an ecosystem.
• Do not imply the nine-number gene model is realistic molecular genetics.
• Do not let learners leave thinking that one dramatic final form is the point rather than the cumulative history of selection.

Short lesson

1. Orient learners to parent, offspring grid, mutation legend, and selection history.
2. Give a visible goal, such as taller, wider, or more branching.
3. Run 10 to 15 generations and export a final image.
4. Ask what was inherited, what was selected, and what the model leaves out.

Longer lesson

1. Have groups pursue different selection goals from the same starting form.
