evo-edu.org: PopG App

About the PopG app

PopG is a population genetics program originally developed in FORTRAN and later in other languages by Prof. Joe Felsenstein and colleagues. The application here is a port to Javascript written by Wesley R. Elsberry and OpenAI ChatGPT o1.

PopG provides a simulation of a single-locus, two-allele genotype evolving over generations, allowing the user to specify all needed parameters to set the amount of selection (and thus also drift), and migration between populations. Results are shown graphically, and the number of populations that have either fixed or lost the 'A' allele are tracked.
