About
Evidence And Cause Workbench was created to make the empirical reasoning layer explicit before learners use simplified mechanism models.
Model Limits
The app uses simplified toy scenarios. It does not estimate real selection coefficients, confidence intervals, likelihoods, or causal effects. Its purpose is to teach the sequence from observation to baseline to candidate cause to evidence need, while making stochastic mechanisms, progress/value language, and model boundaries explicit.
Real-world analysis requires stronger sampling design, uncertainty estimates, replication, model criticism, attention to measurement error and hidden structure, and caution about treating a useful model as a complete explanation.
Notebook Role
This app supports the first-ring Notebook sequence by preparing learners for Hardy-Weinberg null models, drift, selection, mutation, adaptation, speciation, and ecology exercises where simplified conditions are intentionally used. Its current framing reflects the Notebook guardrails that distinguish observed patterns from causation, chance from cause-free change, and empirical trends from progress or value claims.
