Digital Evolution Lab is the evo-edu.org public route into the legacy Avida-ED environment. The remediation work here strengthens the learner, teacher, standards, and provenance surfaces without claiming that the underlying runtime has been rewritten inside evo-edu.org.

Current Limits
- The runtime remains the legacy Avida-ED environment and is currently outside the direct API-remediation tranche.
- The route is strongest when paired with explicit experimental framing rather than free exploration alone.
- The environment is useful for discussing mutation, selection, adaptation, and contingency, but it should not be over-read as a full model of biological evolution.
